Wish I could say I found em first
From a NYTimes article on music from Denton Texas, theres a quote about a band called Midlake. “Midlake may be the current poster boys for Denton’s indie music scene — with gushy write-ups in Rolling Stone and cameos among its members for trendy causes like Al Gore’s We Campaign — but they are not the only ones vying for that title.” And says, “The Guardian has called “a dreamy concoction of Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty and the Yardbirds.”
It was in an earlier post on my other blog, where I mentioned how I discovered this group. And you should discover them as well. Via the earlier post you might find a way to listen to an mp3 or two as well.
